This page covers install, configuration, use, and troubleshooting for the Emanate Great SharePoint web part.

Primary host: SharePoint Online (modern pages). The same app also supports SharePoint full-page app, Microsoft Teams tab, and Microsoft Teams personal app.

Overview

Emanate Great is an interactive employee recognition carousel for your intranet. It displays celebration and campaign slides from your Emanate Great organization (achievements, milestones, birthdays/anniversaries-style content, promo slides, and similar content depending on what your org has configured).

Viewers can engage when features are enabled for a campaign: likes, comments, GIFs on comments, and nominations.

Content is loaded from the Emanate Great backend using your organization’s access token. It does not use SharePoint lists as the data source.

Hard requirement: An Emanate Great organization account and a valid access token. Without a valid token, the web part will not show recognition content.

Prerequisites

Before you install or configure the web part:

1. SharePoint Online with permission to edit modern pages and add web parts
2. A SharePoint Administrator (or equivalent) to add the app from the SharePoint Store for your organization the first time
3. An Emanate Great organization account and an access token for that org
4. A modern browser (Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome recommended)

Installation

Install Emanate Great from the SharePoint Store.

1. Add the app from the SharePoint Store

A SharePoint Administrator typically does this once for the organization:

1. Open the SharePoint admin center  → More features → Apps → Open.
2. On the Manage apps page, select SharePoint Store.
3. Search for Emanate Great.
4. Open the app and select Add to Apps site.
5. If offered, choose whether to enable the app for all sites in the organization, then select Add.
6. If SharePoint prompts for API access or permissions, approve them in the SharePoint admin center as required by your org’s process.

After the app is added, it is available for site owners and page editors according to how your organization enabled it.

If your organization requires approval for Store apps, submit a request from the site or Store UI and ask a SharePoint Administrator to approve it.

2. Add the web part to a page

1. Open the SharePoint site and page where recognition should appear.
2. Edit the page.
3. Add a web part. In the toolbox, search for Emanate Great.
4. Add the Emanate Great web part to the page.
5. Publish the page (or continue to configuration below before publishing).

If the web part does not appear in the toolbox, confirm that Emanate Great was added from the SharePoint Store and is available to that site.

Configuration

Open the web part property pane (edit the page, select the web part, open its properties).

Access token

• Prefer setting the token in the property pane on published pages so every viewer uses the same org connection.
• If the token is missing or invalid, the web part shows an in-web-part login/token screen instead of the carousel. You can also enter a token on that screen when the property pane has not been configured yet.
• The token is stored in web part properties. It is masked in the UI; treat it as a secret.

Generate a token

1. Sign in at app.emanategreat.com/tokens .
2. Generate a new access token for your organization. You can create multiple tokens if needed (for example, one per site or environment).
3. Copy the token.
4. Paste it into the web part Emanate Great Access Token field in the property pane.
5. Publish the page.

Rotate or revoke a token

Rotate or revoke access when a token may have been exposed, when a site should stop using a given token, or on a regular security schedule:

1. Sign in at app.emanategreat.com/tokens .
2. Generate a new access token.
3. Copy the new token.
4. Edit every SharePoint page that should use the new token.
5. Open each web part’s property pane, replace Emanate Great Access Token with the new token, and publish the page.
6. When those pages are updated, delete the old token at app.emanategreat.com/tokens  so it can no longer be used.

Until you update and publish each web part instance that still uses a deleted or invalid token, viewers on those pages will see the login/token screen or fail to load content.

Height

After changing the token or height, publish the page so viewers receive the update.

Using the web part

Carousel

• Slides auto-advance based on the configured timer.
• Swipe to move manually between slides.
• Configure slides and campaigns in the Emanate Great dashboard at dashboard.emanategreat.com .

Likes

On slides where likes are enabled, use the heart control to like the recognition.

Comments and GIFs

On comment-enabled slides, a comments panel/feed is available. Users can post text comments. A GIF control appears when GIFs are allowed for that campaign.

Promo slides show the promo content only. They do not include likes, comments, GIFs, or nominations.

When comments are disabled for a campaign, recognition uses a fuller-width layout (no comments column). Nominations can still open as a sliding panel when nominations are enabled.

Nominations

When nominations are enabled for a campaign:

1. Click Nominate
2. Search for an employee (type at least 3 characters)
3. Select the person
4. Enter a reason
5. Submit — you see a brief success message, then return to the previous panel

Feature flags (why a button might be missing)

Each campaign/slide can independently enable or disable:

• Comments
• Likes
• Nominations
• GIFs

These flags are controlled in the Emanate Great dashboard at dashboard.emanategreat.com  (campaign settings), not in the SharePoint property pane.

If a control is missing on a slide, that is usually intentional, not a product bug. Try another slide, or ask your Emanate Great administrator to enable the feature on that campaign in the dashboard.

Admin tips

• Set the access token in the property pane so all page viewers share the org connection.
• Manage campaign content and engagement features in the dashboard at dashboard.emanategreat.com , not in SharePoint.
• When you replace a token, update the property pane on every Emanate Great web part instance that should use the new one, publish those pages, then delete the old token at app.emanategreat.com/tokens  if it should no longer grant access.
• Primary setup and support steps on this page are for SharePoint Online. Teams tab and personal app hosting are also supported; follow your Microsoft 365 process for adding the app in Teams after it is available in your tenant.
